Full Moon Herb Walk
Monthly Walk and wild tea sipping on the eve of the full moon
Join Alexandra for an evening meander on the day of the full moon, exploring the wild plants of the greater Santa Cruz area. These 2 hour low key walks offer a chance to connect with local flora and meet other people who love them.
We'll wander through diverse natural settings, from coastal trails to redwood forests, focusing on plants relevant to the current season and lunar cycle. Each walk includes bits of plant identification, discussions of medicinal properties and preparation, culinary applications, ethical harvesting, and traditional uses. We will also be mindfully harvesting select plants for tea, which we will enjoy together, and take moments for quiet meditation, connecting deeply with the spirit and energy of the plants and places we encounter.
Emphasis will be on gently experiencing the plants rather than lots of intensive learning. If you’re more in the mood for intensive learning, please come to one of my Wild Plant classes with ForageSF in either Santa Cruz or Palo Alto! Classes are 2.5-3 hours and are entirely focused on plant ID and learning their medicinal and culinary virtues. Tickets are available on ForageSF’s website.
These gatherings are a way to build community among plant enthusiasts and deepen our understanding of the natural world. Bring comfortable shoes, a warm layer, a notebook, and a mug for tea.
