Wild Herb Club
Courting the Wild
The most profound way I've found to learn a plant's medicine is through intimate, one-on-one (or one-on-group) connection. We dedicate ourselves to a single plant over time, exploring it through every possible method imaginable. This allows us to truly understand its character: how it influences our bodies, minds, and spirits. Through this deep understanding, we build a relationship, allowing us to call upon the plant for healing or simply for companionship, just as we would a cherished friend.
There's an undeniable magic in knowing the plants that surround us, our local allies. These plants share our environment, experiencing similar challenges and blessings. They're evolving with us, often seemingly one step ahead, making them invaluable partners.
Wild Herb Club is a monthly guided journey into the wild medicine of the California Bay Area. We'll embark on a focused courtship with our treasured medicinal plants, utilizing plant meditation, various forms of ingestion, working with the plants as food and integrating them into our daily lifestyles, and sharing our experiences (both in person and through text channels). By weaving together our personal experiences with the insights of others, we create a rich tapestry of plant knowledge.
Our gatherings take place in person in Los Gatos, CA. Herbs for the upcoming month are available for purchase, and we share our stories and insights from the previous month's plant. We prioritize experiential learning, with lectures and deep group sharing occurring after the period of working with each plant. The following day, we begin our journey with the next plant.
The in-person gatherings create a powerful space for our shared quest for symbiotic connection with the wild world. For those who wish to harvest their own plants (strongly encouraged!), Alexandra will provide guidance on where to find them. Some plants can also be purchased fresh or dried through the Sonoma County Herb Exchange (please allow a few weeks for shipping if purchasing is preferred).
